The Flanagans

Flanagans, Vancouver, BC Canada

Brian and Michelle, the front half of the Halifax Wharf Rats, are the Flanagans. Brian and Michelle entertain as a duo and sometimes trio, singing and performing with acoustic guitar, piano and flute/piccolo/fife/irish whistle. Their extensive repertoire includes Canadian and American folk, from Canadian classics such as "The Log Driver's Waltz", Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, Neil Young, Ian and Sylvia Tyson's "Four Strong Winds" -  to Johnny Cash, John Denver, the Beatles, Eagles and David Gray, and fun songs like "These Boots are Made for Walking" and "Crazy". Add Irish and Scottish folk music, songs from Atlantic Canada, and the result is the Flanagans get people singing, dancing and jigging about.

TESTIMONIALS

“We thoroughly enjoyed having the Flanagans at our annual alumni event.  Not only are they versatile, extremely talented musicians that had our guests’ toes tapping, but they were  a delight to work with from the get go.  We have already booked them for next year’s event!”  - Rosemary Casson, Manager of Alumni Engagement, UBC Faculty of Dentistry

“I really loved The Flanagans’ performance we hosted for our opening day. The Flanagans are just really, really good, relaxed singers and spot on musicians.  The song choices are all favourites, perfectly combined and incorporate many instruments, keeping the show fresh.  They could have just gone on all day and the crowd would have been perfectly happy.” - Jessica Schneider, Executive Director, Massey Theatre Society; Operator, Massey Theatre & Anvil Centre Theatre

“The Flanagans rocked White Rock’s Canada Day by the Bay! Thank you Michelle and Brian for sharing your musical talents with us, you were the highlight of the afternoon and enjoyed thoroughly by all in attendance!  Can’t wait to have you back next year…” - Amy Baumann, Special Events Coordinator, City of White Rock

“I had the pleasure of hiring The Flanagans for a once-in-a-lifetime Barn Raising Event. Their mix of Canadian folk and contemporary music was an excellent addition to our event. A two piece band from the Lower Mainland, the Flanagans put out some festive Canadiana music (complete with the Log Driver’s Waltz) for everyone to hum along to, as well as some classic Irish folk tunes.” - Laura Tennant, Summer Events Coordinator, The Old Barn Community Centre
